Thank you for the privilege of serving on the Rapid City Council for 9 years (2002-2011) and as Mayor for 4 years (2011-2015)! I experienced 11 elections in 13 years, and came in first in nine. (This includes two mayoral run-off elections and two unopposed City Council races).

When I arrived in office, ‘micromanagement’ and ‘inefficiency’ were hard wired into the City codes – too much red tape, too many committees, and a frustrating process for citizens and City employees. Together we have reduced the number of committees and the length of the City’s bill paying process by more than half, and we are now administratively approving Business Licenses, Final Plats, Event Permits and Raffles – while maintaining necessary checks and balances.

I am proud of our efforts to enhance the foundation of Rapid City by continually working toward improved race relations and being an energetic advocate for people with disabilities.

See the Progress Reports from 2011 – 2015.

The list goes on, but I’ll stop here by saying thank you for the opportunity to serve!
